Jess Britt (she/her) helps leaders turn meetings into their most powerful leadership tool. She's on a mission to make work better and believes that when you learn to lead through meetings—not despite them—work gets better for you and everyone around you.
Jess has spent 15+ years in the work: chaired a 16-member multinational nonprofit board (budget ~$3M, endowment ~$2.5M), managed multi-million-dollar international programs throughout Latin America, and co-built a national team while navigating all the politics and dynamics that come with an organization doubling its national footprint. She knows what it's like to lead and report to boards and executives, manage people and cross-functional projects, and to lead strategically when you're already stretched thin.
She works with high-performing leaders who care deeply about their work and want to get better at it—especially leaders in periods of change or growth like a recent promotion, organizational scaling, or implementing new strategic plans. Together, they work on navigating organizational politics, building confidence, running meetings that actually move work forward, and carving out time for strategic thinking when everything feels urgent.
Jess holds a BA from Bowdoin College and a graduate certificate in Program Monitoring and Evaluation from American University. She's a certified executive and career coach and an alum of the Coaching for Leaders Academy. She serves as an inaugural Coaching for Leaders Fellow, facilitating peer groups for senior leaders in the CFL Pro Community, and has been featured on Coaching for Leaders—a top-ranked management podcast downloaded over 40 million times—talking about how to lead engaging meetings. She has also facilitated everything from 3-person executive strategy sessions to 200-person workshops, so she knows what works (and what doesn't) virtually and in person.
A native English speaker and fluent in Spanish, Jess works with leaders across sectors and geographies. She splits her time between Boston and South Burlington, Vermont. Subscribe to Set the Agenda to stay in touch.

“Working with Jess has been one of the most valuable professional development experiences I’ve ever had. The coaching process helped me focus on small, specific habits and tangible steps that made lasting change feel achievable.
I especially appreciated how our sessions served multiple purposes -- both checking in on progress toward my goals and exploring deeper, real-time challenges I was facing. Jess brought such a unique blend of roles to each conversation: part coach, part trusted thought partner, and part subject-matter expert who truly understood the context I was working in. Her care in balancing those roles -- and always checking in about what kind of support I needed -- made every session feel personalized and safe.
The structure of the coaching experience was also spot-on. I found the mix of reflection, practical application, and periodic “big-picture” check-ins incredibly valuable. The pre-work and follow-up notes kept me accountable and made each session more productive.
Overall, this coaching experience helped me build momentum, self-awareness, and confidence in ways that will stick with me well beyond our time together!” - Senior Director, National Nonprofit

"Jess has served as one of our inaugural Coaching for Leaders Fellows -- and I couldn't be more thrilled with all she's brought to our members and listeners. She's extraordinarily well-versed in knowledge and practices for organizational development and quickly locates the right resource for others. Her insights for deploying the right tool for the situation led her to develop and analyze a membership-wide survey that helped us improve several member benefits that were immediately noticed and appreciated by many. I often hear about how helpful Jess's coaching conversations with our members are. She's such a positive force in our community!” - Dave Stachowiak, Founder & Host, Coaching for Leaders

"Jess has been an extraordinary thought partner to me by seamlessly bridging the gaps between organizational strategy, data and evaluation work, and people development. Further, Jess has served as a trusted advisor to our executive team by strengthening the alignment between our mission and our operational practices. Her ability to frame and document challenges in a clear and action-oriented way has empowered our team to address complex problems with confidence and focus. Further, Jess brings a rare combination of analytical rigor, strategic insight and effective coaching to ensure our data and evaluation work not only informs but also enhances our decision-making. “Jess is equally comfortable and skilled facilitating an executive team or board to develop organizational strategy as she is working hand-in-hand with staff on a technical study that will help you know if your organization's good intentions have an equal impact. It's hard to find a problem for which she doesn't have just the right skill, knowledge, and tools to solve. She operates by building deep, trusting relationships with her clients and colleagues. You can count on her to distill complex challenges into very approachable and actionable steps, and present highly technical information in ways that everyone understands. I've been fortunate to know Jess for a decade and to have worked with her directly for seven years. I speak from firsthand experience when I say you'll not only enjoy the results, you'll enjoy the process of working with Jess. She brings joy and a love for doing good for others into all of her work. I highly recommend Jess Britt to all of my friends who are looking for a consultant who can marry data and effective strategy.” - Garrett Yursza Warfield, Ph.D., Chief Research & Impact Officer for large U.S. nonprofits
