Once you’ve decided what you want to delegate using the DELEGATE framework, next you need to decide who you’re going to delegate the task to (or “to whom you will delegate the task” for the grammarians out there 😉).

Use this simple matrix to help you figure this out
List each team member in a row in the table below*
For each team member, mark Yes/No on the following three dimensions adding notes as needed*
Capability: Do they currently have the skills to complete this task?
Development: Does this align with their growth goals?
Capacity: Do they have bandwidth to take this on now?
Review the matrix. Prioritize assigning tasks to someone who scored “Y” across all three categories. If no one scored “Y” across all three, use the notes to guide your assignment decision and shape your approach to delegating like PRO
*Make sure to list people on other teams who might be able to take on some or all of the assignment, too
